Zutara Week 09 Jealousy

"Look what you've done now!" Katara yelled angrily.

"What I've done? How is this my fault?" Zuko yelled back glaring at her.

"You're the one who got us lost! I told you we shouldn't have taken that turn!" she said placing her hands on her hips.

"You also said that we shouldn't have gone through that cave, but when we did, we almost caught them!" he retorted conceitedly.

"That's completely different!"

"No, it's not!"

"Yes, it is!"

"You're impossible! How could those guys put up with you for this long?!" burst out in frustration.

"How do they put up with you ?" Katara snapped back.

"That doesn't answer the question!"

"Why should I answer your questions? Look! There's someone up there! We can ask her for directions!" Katara said pointing ahead at the approaching figure.

"What kind of directions could she give?"

"We should at least try to find a town; they're bound to have to stop somewhere," Katara said softly before rushing up to the girl. "Excuse me, but which way's the nearest town?"

"Oh, you and your boyfriend lost?" the girl asked politely but Katara could sense the underlying scorn.

"He's not my boyfriend!" Katara insisted while Zuko acted flustered.

"Oh, so you're not together ?" she asked sounding happier.

"No, we're just traveling in the same direction," Katara said blushing.

"Interesting," the girl said and looked Zuko over with a smile.

"Would you mind showing us the way to town?" Zuko asked shooting Katara a dirty look.

"Of course. I'm Ty," she said flashing another smile at Zuko. Katara glared at her, she didn't like the way she was looking at Zuko.

"I'm...Lee," Zuko said slightly hesitant.

"Nice to meet you, Lee," Ty said pleasantly. "Now if you would follow me, I'll show you the way."

"Thank you, Ty," Zuko replied politely and Katara fumed silently.

They arrived in town twenty minutes later. Ty then showed Zuko and Katara to the local travelor's quarters, where the visitors did chores in exchange for their room. They got seperate rooms and then headed to an inexpensive tavern for some food. The entire time Ty clung to Zuko as if he belonged to her. It made Katara furious. Towards the end of the meal, Ty asked "Lee" to join her for dinner later.

"Well, I guess we could meet you later," Zuko said cautiously.

"Oh, that's not what I was thinking, but I guess," Ty said disappointedly.

"What 'we'? 'We' aren't doing anything!" Katara said angrilly.

"Well then, I guess it'll be just us then, Lee," Ty said grabbing a blushing Zuko's arm. Katara huffed and went back to her room.

Later that night, Katara had watched Zuko being dragged off by a dressed up Ty. She was now pacing her room, wondering what they were doing. Not knowing was driving her insane, but what bothered her most was that she cared. With a final growl of annoyance, she decided to get some fresh air to cool down.

Without realizing it, Katara was in front of the tavern where they had eaten lunch. She looked in the window and saw Ty cozying up to Zuko and Katara lost it.  She went in, slapped Zuko, and stormed back out throwing Ty a death glare.

She ended up stomping back to the travelor's quarters and fuming in her room. A minute after she sat down in the chair, the door burst open and Zuko walked into Katara's room.

"What are you doing in here, Zuko? Get out!" Katara yelled at him.

"No! Not until you explain what just happened!" Zuko shouted stubbornly.

"Why should I?" Katara demanded.

"Because you hit me out of the blue!"

"Well you deserved it!"

"What did I do to you? All I did was have dinner with that local girl," Zuko said and started smirking after he realized why Katara was angry.

"What are you smirking about?" Katara asked.

"You're jealous; you're jealous I had dinner with that girl, so you hit me," Zuko said smuggly.

"I am not! Don't be rediculous! Why would I be jealous of you ?" Katara yelled stubbornly blushing.

"Yes, you are, Katara, just admit it," Zuko said softly with a slightly conceited smile.

"I AM NOT!" Katara yelled and sotrmed out, slamming the door. She'd never admit it, but Zuko was right. She was completely, insanely jealous . And she could have sworn she could hear him laughing as she had left.
